Zen and the Art of Raising Chickens – a book review
This book by Clea Danaan is wonderful! Anyone who follows this site via Twitter is well aware that my family recently bought 7 baby, fluffy chickens. Now I understand why all the tissue adds use chickens and ducklings. It is because (straight after labrador puppies) they are the cutest things on the planet.
So when this book arrived in the post I was thrilled.
Here’s a quote – if it makes sense to you – go get a copy. You won’t regret it.
Once you’ve decided to keep chickens or some other small livestock in your own garden, something begins to shift inside you. Not unlike taking up meditation, where the simple act of following your breath releases you into new layers of self, raising chickens begins to reveal the assumptions we carry in our culture about life, death, food and personal responsibility.
How great is this quote? ”Dippy and delightful” - Janet Mawdesley
