Why napping is good for your brain

I heard this fantastic piece on Radio National’s Health Report this morning. Here’s the blurb

This feature, by Thea O’Connor and Ray Moynihan from Northern New South Wales, tells us that there’s a huge gap between the scientific proof that napping is beneficial and social uptake. Most people are still reluctant to take a nap during their busy day.

The way I heard it, there seems to be a lot of study that has proven we are pre-programmed to need a sleep in the early afternoon and that it can have all sorts of benefits.

At Bellingen, they arranged – Australia’s first “Nap in. at the local library to make a statement about this “lost art”.
